Lizard men VS. Vampire counts game three

Deployment: You will see that my Hex wraiths and corps cart are in reserve because we were playing Battle #5 meeting engagement his saurus cav were also forced into reserve due to the game type

Turn one first half: I tweeked my battle line a bit and brought in my reserves. Also the terrorgheist did his thing and screamed quite a few of the skinks to death. They then panicked and went running.

Turn one second half: The painted saurus charged my zombies and started to chew them up. the unpainted ones failed there charge wile the skinks charged my hex wraiths witch was a rather gutsy move he locked them in place and had the opportunity to use his magic from the skink priest to blast the wraiths. luckily for me I dispelled his attack spell.

Turn two first half: The terrorgheist killed a few of the unpainted saurus but they passed there panic check. My hex wraiths managed to win combat and run down the skinks they then ran into the unpainted saurus but only clipped the edge of the unit so they would only have 2 out of there 5 members in the fight.

Turn two second half: The unpainted saurus handily won combat and due to the moral check killed the hex wraiths the other block slaughtered a ton of zombies

Turn three first half: I moved up to avoid getting charged by the saurus cav the only one left hanging out was my corpse cart but there was no way to get it out of the way. The terrorgheist got a really amazing roll on his screech and all most wiped out the unpainted saurus but they stood there ground and passed there moral check.

Turn three second half: The saurus cav destroyed the corpse cart but restrained them selves from making an over run move. The painted saurus finished off the zombies. The last three saurus all most made a rather tricky charge on my necromancer but failed to get the distance they needed.

Turn four first half: my skeletons charged the three unpainted saurus they won combat but failed to run down the last two. The terrorgheist saved me from the saurus cav by screeching them to death.

Turn four second half: the two saurus rallied and reformed in front of the skeletons. the painted saurus were out of place to attack anything so there were forced to use the turn to position them selves better for the next turn.

Turn five first half: the skeletons charged the two remaining saurus and killed them they then over ran them and went off the board. technically they are not on the board we just left them there because it was easier. The terrorgheist and necromancer moved up the board to avoid getting charged and death screeched the painted saurus they panicked and ran.

Turn five second half: The saurus rallied and spent the turn reforming
Turn six first half: Death screech killed three more

Turn six second half: the saurus charged the terrorgheist he only won the combat and destroyed them due to having vanhel's danse macabre cast on him and even then he needed a really good set of thunder stomp rolls to seal the deal.

This was a good day for the vampires. This may even have been there first win ever a lot went right for me. I thought it might have gone down hill after the hex wraiths died to combat. But due to working the terrorgheist carefully and the lizard men missing a few charges it all came together.

ZOMBIES!

OK not much to say hear. ZOMBIES! yeah there something I really want to make work on the table in mass if I could win with just units of zombies and corpse carts with the odd necromancer to drive them ahead and summon more of them. Sadly it just does not work. but they hold up a flank just fine so they have there place.

Corpse Cart

The Corpse Cart. I tryed to weather the copper and make it look worn. I think it is a little over done but at the same time the zombies need something more. I will have to take a wack at redoing this when I get as bit more done for the army.

Lizard men VS. Vampire counts

Ooo look I actually got a shot  of the set up
 Lizards move foward
the hex wraiths move up and block the skinks sence they would have fallen short on the charge most likely also the terrorgheist moved up and death shreaked the skink priest who was trying to avoid the corpse cart and its -1 to spell casting balefire. but was left out in the open and thus an easy target tho honestly there was only one shooting attack in my army so it might have been a reasonable gamble
skink skirmishers move to my flank and do some shooting
hexwraiths charged the skinks on the left flank and win combat due to the fact that they cant be hit with out magicial weapons they then got run down and destroyed
lots of charging by the lizard men and destruction ensues
zombies continue to die but the skeletons are saved by the terrorgheist sadly the fail to catch the saurus
zombies die in droves and the saurus that lost combat recover them selves and take the chance to turn around
the terrorgheist moved up and screached the saurus cav to death and the skeletons charged the saurus in front of them and... died.
The painted saurus warriors charged the terrorgheist flank  and the other unit did not have room to get in from the front so they hit the corpse cart and destroyed it consolidating into the terrorgheist
in the last half of the last turn the hex wraiths charged the saurus from behind to attempt to save the terrorgheist they managed to win the fight but the terrorgheist died to the saurus and both of the units passed there moral checks
thus the game ends to determine who won we added up the points value of the remaining units turned out the lizards had 225 points left and the vampires had 270. That puts us with in the 100 point margin for an official draw.

Another great game and I am looking forward to playing again I am currently trying to set up a game VS. the high elves of thewarhost if that does not happen perhaps we will step up points wise with the lizards and the vampires. who knows!

Dire Wolves

Well now that we are playing warhammer semi regularly I think it is time to catalog the stuff I have painted into the blog. These are the Dire wolves I painted back before they got there own kit. back in the day GW suggested you buy a unit of Orcs & Goblins Goblin Wolf Riders and just use the wolves so to this day there is a ton of goblins wandering around my bits box. The wolves are ok looking but not very exciting or undead looking.

Imperial fists chapter master Vladimir Pugh

yeah I know another pedro kantor but yes I am going there I love sternguard and he makes them better so with his chapter tactics still being imperial fists I don't feel to bad using him.
As far as how I am painting him and the bits I used to make him I just am doing anything I want there does not seem to be anything to go buy officially from GW so I decided to make him stand out a bit from the rest of my army with some splashes of purple and lots of silver mixed in with the standard Imperial fists yellow.

Lizard men VS. High elves

This battle way fought by my friends thewarhost (my brother in law) and mike. thewarhost is playing the High elves and mike is playing his lizard men that he played me last week with.

Hay guess what I forgot to take a picture off the setup... yeah I will have to try to actually do that for one of these seeing as how the setup is so critical to the game the choices there will save you or damn you for the rest of the game.
I have re uploaded this picture nine times... NINE times!!! and it will not flip correctly no matter how I save it is paint.net. Also I think the order I took them in got messed up some how so I will just write out what happened as best as i can for the first bit of the game.

the whole games started with the high elves sending there 2 units of ellyrian reavers forward with there advance deployment. after that the roll for first turn went to the lizards allowing them to send the two blocks of saurus charging into the ellyrian reavers. This was an amazing pair of charge rolls and left the lizard men ahead of the game getting them across the field that much faster. In the upside down  picture you can see the small unit of archers that get charged next the Plus side of that combat for the high elves was that after the archers got wiped out they saurus walked off the board and where forced to come back in the next turn in front of the other saurus block and tripped them all up allowing the high elves more shooting and a bit more time to deal with the other units.
all right right hear we have the one saurus block that ran off the board with the one warrior acting as a marker for where they would come back from. The skinks on the left charged the side of the sword masters. OH I all most forgot that the skink priest miscast his spell and lost both his caster levels making him self useless for the rest of the game.
The sword masters turned around after the combat from this turn and finally got to line up properly after having failed the moral check needed to change facing last turn also the bolt thrower seaguard(yes I know they look like spearmen but that is what they are being played as to make up the points and to hold the place of the seaguard that are getting painted) took some nice shots and wore down the lizard men a bit more.
On this turn the saurus unit come back on the board finally the unit that was all ready there failed to make the charge distance and the sword masters finished off the skinks all thow there are only three of them left after getting ground up mostly by the kroxigor
more elf shooting and the sword masters moving to get around the house at the priest that has hidden there for some time due to being useless as a level 0 caster. I had to go home at this point but I was sent pictures of the rest of the battle.
The saurus seem to have failed to make there charge again but are set up to do some real damage next turn
elf shooting/casting takes a serous toll on the remaining lizard men
elves prepare to take the final charge
more elf shooting and the sword masters getting closer
the last few saurus make they charge finally and manage to still win combat with  the full unit of seaguard the elf BSB and the mage and run them off the board
In the final half of the final turn the sword masters charge the last saurus warrior and destroy him wile the bolt thrower shoots the saurus cav apart.

So this was another really close game but the high elves edged out a win with very little left just as the lizzard men did the week before. I am loving these close games they have gone back and forth and you can't call them till the end its just more fun that way.
